Brief History of Aquaria Phuket
Aquaria Phuket officially opened its doors on August 23, 2019, with an exclusive media preview followed by a grand opening ceremony led by Dato Simon Foong, Managing Director of Aquawalk Group. Built inside Central Phuket Floresta, the attraction was developed as Thailand’s largest aquarium and a flagship “edutainment” destination for Phuket.
From the beginning, it was designed as a multi-zone immersive experience. Visitors move through themed areas such as Mystic Forest, inspired by Thai folklore, along with River Caves and Coastal Haven, home to playful otters and penguins. The highlight remains the massive 3.5-million-litre main ocean tank, which anchors the underwater tunnel experience.
The aquarium also introduced innovative concepts like an underwater dining and entertainment space within the complex, reflecting its ambition to blend marine education with lifestyle experiences. Since opening, Aquaria Phuket has steadily grown into one of the island’s key indoor attractions, supporting Phuket’s goal of becoming a year-round tourism hub.
